We've been waiting over two years for a refund for the return that was filed in March of 2020. We received correspondence from the IRS in July of 2020 stating they had received the return and would process within 60 days. We are still waiting.

Very friendly staff. The way the nice security officer patted me down was so comforting and gentle. The office experience is interesting because they keep your confidentiality by having you step into a secret booth the seemed like you were about to meet the wizard of oz. It sounded like they had to waderbord somone in the next booth over but that was none of my concern. I really enjoyed the complimental coffee and cookies in the lobby.

I understand that is a government run organization, and this isn't what I want to talk about. I would like to warn people about a particular woman that works here next time you visit. Now normally when you come to the IRS, it's not because you WANT to, it's because you HAVE to. Often times you could feel nervous because you can't help but think, "I know I did my taxes, but what if..." you know, human thoughts. After 1pm on a Friday, I visited this office, as I have done so twice in the past for school related documents, easy stuff right? I waited in line to get a number, and this woman with blond wavy hair a bit harshly asked me what I wanted. I explained my need and she printed me a ticket, I said, "Thank you," as a thing people do to be friendly, and she ignored it and walked back behind some cubicles. Now I shrugged it off and took a seat, looking around I saw there was about three other people before me, no big deal I have my phone to keep me occupied. While I waited, two others came in after me and no one was at the desk. A woman and a man kindly looked to the security guard and asked if they needed to take a number, he said that someone would be up at the desk shortly. They stood there for a good five to seven minutes before the security guard sort of peaked over the desk to let her know she was needed. She responded with a harsh, "Give me a few minutes!" The security guard said nothing and just looked down. I waited a bit longer and they started to take numbers, leading people into a back room to do their business. My number was called after some time and I went in. I wasn't able to provide a bit of information and that is 100% my fault- here's the problem here; The way she treated me, she didn't smile, ask me how my day was when I did all those things to her. And when I messed up on my information she acted very rude almost to the point of awkwardness. She acted like I was some liar, I asked her what to do and she just shrugged and handed me my ID. She didn't say anything like, "This is okay, you can come back with that information on Monday our hours are, *insert time here*." Or anything, she was cold and rude and just awkward. I'll admit, as I walked out the door I TOTALLY whispered what a bitch she was, because I didn't do anything to warrant that sort of treatment. As I took the elevator down to wait for my ride, I noticed another woman walk out and she was yelling on her phone about how rude this woman was to her as well. So it got me thinking that it wasn't just me being sensitive. The next time I come here, which will be soon because I still need those documents, I will ask for someone else to help me or to speak to her supervisor. She was beyond rude. She shouldn't work there, she shouldn't work with people. She needs a new job secluded from others if she can't help people who are already anxious and stressed out from being there. I wasn't prepared to be there, sure; but she didn't have to be such a bitch about it.

I needed a form for college, the irs data retrieval tool didn't work. I was treated very nicely and they fixed me up with the right form in about 3 minutes. The staff was very professional and patient. Perhaps the people who gave bad reviews were impatient or rude. We all have jobs and I commend these government employees for putting up with the meanies.

People who complain about Big Government obviously have never tried to get help on the US Gov/IRS website. I had to give one star to post, otherwise, they'd have gotten no stars from me. What a complete, utter, frustrating waste of time this website is. And why did I even go on the site? Because the IRS bounced my bank account trying to get a $1744 payment that had been made a month earlier. Complete incompetence. Cost me another $30. And there's apparently no way to contact them in order to stop them from doing it again. This country is going down the toilet.

By far one of the most useless government agencies in existence. Their so quick to take my money but return it at a snails pace. Don't bother being diligent and filling early because it's just a waste of time, effort, and money. F--- the irs Edit! Not only was my issue not resolved 64 days after filing, when I originally contacted them it turns out I was blatantly lied to after jumping through 20 minutes of automated messages. As stated above, F--k the irs with a cactus.

This is Michael Shurtleff. I am a bankruptcy attorney with Salem Law LLC. We often need to help clients obtain their tax transcripts when they do not have copies of their tax returns. Hoping that it may be helpful to someone, I will share our experience that it is usually easier to obtain your tax transcripts by going down to the office than by calling in, or using the online or mail services. If you have time and don't mind filling out the form and waiting, then having your transcripts sent to you in the mail is a great option. If you want to get the job done now, then going down to the office is a simple way to make it happen. When I have gone, the process has been quick and painless. If you are going to this office it can be a little bit confusing. You have to pull in off the road and then drive clear around to the back side of the building to get to the door to the IRS office. It is upstairs, so you have to take a short elevator ride.
