You CAN NOT make an appointment online! It directs you to call your local agency. Phone lines are busy and it hangs up automatically. You’ll wait forever to get a representative. Then when you get a rep they say 30-60 days out to book an appointment. You can’t just show up the doors are LOCKED!! The IRS has you going in circles. No help what so ever.

I’ve been on the phone for two hours and 11 minutes. The first person who answered after the first 60 minutes told me she couldn’t answer my questions and she would transfer me to someone who can… well an hour and 11 minutes later … no one has even answered the call telling me how much longer it would take for someone to talk to me or stating that they are closed. I looked to see if they were even still open because I didn’t think they would just let their phone ring for that long but also didn’t think someone would just close if they saw someone who needed to be taken care of (especially if they called before they closed). Turns out I was totally wrong… I don’t understand why if I was on the phone before they closed why they would not take care of me before leaving work?🤨🧐 I do a lot of customer service. So I understand the difficulty. This is totally ridiculous though.

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. About a year ago they said we owed money from our 2020 tax return when we only made 40k a year because we claimed our stimulus payment when we already got it (we filed before we received it). The stimulus checks are not to be tax deductible. They withheld our federal return from 2020 and have not given us another stimulus check since and are taking most of our return from 2021. We mailed a check with our 1040 prepared by our accountant on March 22,2021 Certified, st our local Post Office in Florida, Tracking continues to show it was at Charlotte NC DISTRIBUTION CENTER since March 24,2021. E filed our taxes in March and got notification that it was accepted March 18th but when I check my online account til this day they have no record of me submitting tax returns and ours was done by accountant and we have proof it was done. We ended up not closing on our home we had built because of this!!!! Fast, efficient and pleasant experience at the local IRS office on February 14th 2019. I was the recommended 15 minutes early for my appointment, went through security sat down and waited my turn. The Security Officer/Intake officer was so pleasant and hilarious to converse with. I watched her try so hard to help people who walked in without appointments (she is NOT an IRS agent) , They also have computers in the lobby for your personal use with IRS questions. I went back for my appointment on time and the agent was also very nice and efficient, I was out the door in 30 minutes. FYI: Make appointment... Go 15 Minutes early.. Have all your documents..

Some tips before you come in. 1. First and foremost this office is APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please take the time to schedule one as you won't get service without it. 2. Don't wait until the last minute to handle your business. Appointments can take a couple of weeks to schedule. 3. Tax transcripts for school, student loans, closing on a house etc can be obtained at home from the IRS website. Save yourself some hassle 4. Leave the attitudes at home. You get what you give.

Have never been satisfied with the service provided from this location. It has nothing to do with the outcome, it has everything to do with the staff. They totally lack professionalism, and don't know the meaning of courtesy. It's as if they are not there to try and help resolve your issue, more like they are there to detour you from finding a solution. After reading all the horrible reviews, I was skeptical going in there. First of all, the place is not walk in, you need to take appointment by calling the number on IRS website. I was given a 10AM appointment for today, I showed up 30minutes early as its a federal building and I need to go through the security checks. Once seated, I was told that my appointment is actually at 10:30AM but the lady helped me to an officer right away where you have really good privacy. The officer was very courteous and professional, told me the entire conversation will be recorded for quality purposes, I can request not to record but I asked him to continue recording. He also gave me a feedback form to fill in and asked me if I have any questions on the form. Once I said No, its all good, he moved to the actual reason I am there. The Officer was very courteous, listened to my entire story as I was there to get a TIN for my daughter. He explained the process and verified all the documents . He was so professional that he told me, he will be running around making some copies of the documents but he is still working on my application. After 20minutes, all done. He gave me the confirmation document and read it loud for me and asked me if I had any questions. He answered all my questions and I thanked him for the wonderful service he gave me. I got out of the cubicle and borrowed a pencil from the reception and gave a 5/5 rating for all the questions on the feedback form and deposited it inside the box kept for it as its anonymous. All together, great service, I thanked all the employees there and the security staff. From what I learned, if you show up early, have all the supporting documents and be courteous and professional to the employees there, you will get the same service. PS: There is a lot of parking around the building, so no need to Uber thinking they dont have enough parking. Thanks to the entire staff for making my life easier and bring a smile to my family. Some blessed soul has thought of APPOINTMENT and its in place since 8/15. So, please take appointment and be there before 15 minutes only !!!! Appointments are must. NO walk-in from 8/15/16. They do honor appointment. Only, if you are out there for transcript, then the lady may give you that w/o appointment( though, she will lecture you for long how she will not do it next time w/o appointment). For rest all tasks, def. need appointment. I have seen many people being turned away with call center no and were asked to get appointment and come. Nothing else has changed. Still, out of 7 windows only 2 are working.

Line was extremely long- lady at the window/desk was very rude. I was standing in line- a long one at that- and all I wanted to know was if they accepted debit cards. I didn't see any signs/posters regarding debit cards. I walked up to the window- simply to ask that question before i stood in line over an hour. The lady was loud, rude and quite embarrassing- there is a way to talk to people. Apparently she wanted me to stand in line and they would come down the line answering questions. That's fine and dandy, but don't be rude about it. There was no professionalism at all. I'm disappointed.

Appointments are preferred here. Officers were very polite and helpful. Place is difficult to notice from moving traffic, so follow the map directions carefully. And there is a single exit for the vehicles, ie the way you drive in is the way you drive out. There is no vehicle exit on the other side of building

Horrible service, I was greeted by a security guard when I arrived. Was told to leave my drink outside. So I did, then when I came back in, the security guard told me I could not come in, even though there was still a half an hour before they closed. He yelled over to two women about a question I had. I was told to go get on the web for my answers. The people working there were rude, insensitive, obnoxious, and lacking any kind of professionalism. I was deeply hurt, upset and disappointed. I would never go back there again.

While waiting to have a question answered, I finished my term paper, read all my assignments for next week's school work, and achieved a high score playing Pengle. I got a lot of school work done, and found this to be better than the library, because the library can be so noisy, and people in the IRS office look like they are awaiting the firing squad. As for answering my question, no, they didn't have the answer to it, but the person who does know will be back tomorrow. I can hardly wait! I can really get ahead in my school work, just a bit of a pain driving 45 miles to have a simple question answered.
